Indianapolis Roofing FAQ’s

Insurance

Filing a claim with your insurance company after your roof has been damaged from a storm is crucial to getting it the proper care. Once your roof has been inspected by a professional for damage, you’re ready to submit your claim. If the claim is stating that the damage is due to a weather-related event rather than only stating one, such as hail damage, then the insurance company may either confirm or deny the claim. It matters what information is provided, or else your claim can get denied.
Choosing a roofing contractor may take some time, but it is important to take your time to make sure you’re getting the best of the best. The most important thing to remember when you’re searching is to do your research on the company by reading reviews or contacting the company directly for more information. Not only is research important but it helps you to narrow down your search to contractors who are qualified, professional, and certified to do what they do. Once you have chosen a suitable contractor, the next step is to establish a service contract to move forward with the job. Most cities also require contractors to have a permit before doing any work.
The most important step in this stage after filing your claim is to know the difference between replacement cost value (RCV) and actual cost value (ACV). An RCV policy reimburses you based on the replacement cost value, meaning that the insurance company, itself, must pay you to replace everything listed on the contractor’s estimate. On the other hand, ACV policies only pays the appraised value of your roof or property depending on the current value at which they stand. Most insurance companies use RCV; however, it is still important to know the difference in case it does end up being an ACV policy. Knowing the difference beforehand will help the process run smoothly for both you and the contractor you hire on a roofing replacement or repair.
It is recommended that your contractor take pictures from the start of their work on your roof until the very last day. Taking pictures of your roof from start to finish will show proof that the contractor followed manufacturer guidelines. When taking pictures of ongoing repairs or installation, you’re able to use them to request a large discount on your homeowners’ insurance policy. Most people don’t know that they are able to do this. However, you can only request if you’re already getting a roof replacement.
Regular maintenance on your roof is a high priority if you want to extend its lifespan. To avoid going through another roof replacement, regular maintenance will be able to help you to maintain your roof for longer periods of time, maybe even a decade or more. That’s why looking for a higher warranty when it comes to shingles, is something to keep in mind. Some companies offer up to a 30-40 year warranty on shingles. However, others only offer a limited lifetime warranty, meaning that not every type of damage will be covered. With that being said, make sure that your roof is properly maintained in order to avoid having to file another claim.

Pricing & Payment

Roof replacement pricing in Indiana typically ranges from $8,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the size of the home, roofing material, pitch, complexity, and ventilation needs.

Most homeowners fall somewhere in the middle of that range. The only way to get an accurate number is through a full inspection, which we provide with detailed measurements, photos, and documentation so you understand exactly what you're paying for.
Not all roofing proposals are built the same.

Some contractors leave out critical components like underlayment upgrades, ventilation corrections, ice and water shield, or proper flashing details. Others may not include debris protection systems or detailed project documentation.

When you compare estimates, make sure you are reviewing what is included, not just the final number. A lower price often means something is missing.
In most insurance claims, homeowners are responsible for their deductible. That deductible is set by your policy, not by the contractor.

We walk you through your insurance paperwork so you clearly understand what the carrier is paying, what your deductible is, and if there are any upgrades you choose beyond what insurance covers.

There are no surprise invoices at the end of the project.
Yes. We understand that not every project is insurance-related.

For retail roof replacements or large upgrades, we offer financing options with approved lenders so homeowners can move forward without delaying necessary repairs. We can walk you through available terms and payment options during your estimate appointment.
Because we don’t build projects to be the cheapest.

We install certified systems from manufacturers like Owens Corning, Malarkey Roofing Products, IKO Industries, and Duro-Last. We use full roof systems, not shortcuts.

We also protect landscaping with professional debris containment systems, document the entire build with project photos, and stand behind our workmanship.

Our pricing reflects long-term durability and accountability.

Several variables influence final pricing:

  • Roof size and square footage
  • Pitch and complexity
  • Number of penetrations and flashing details
  • Ventilation corrections
  • Material selection
  • Decking replacement if needed
  • Storm damage severity

A roof with multiple angles, steep slopes, and complex flashing will require more labor and material than a simple ranch-style home.

No. We provide complimentary inspections and detailed reports for homeowners.

Our goal is to educate first, not pressure. If your roof does not need replacement, we will tell you that.
For retail projects, yes. The estimate you sign is the price you pay unless additional issues are discovered, such as hidden decking damage. If that happens, we document everything with photos and review it with you before proceeding.

For insurance projects, pricing is based on the carrier-approved scope. If supplements are needed, we handle the communication with your adjuster.
Impact-resistant shingles typically cost more upfront, but they can reduce long-term damage risk and may qualify you for insurance premium discounts depending on your carrier.

We can provide side-by-side pricing so you can make an informed decision without pressure.
Ventilation corrections are often overlooked in lower bids.

Poor ventilation can shorten the lifespan of your roof and void manufacturer warranties. If your attic airflow needs improvement, we include that in the estimate so your new roof performs the way it should.
For retail projects, we typically collect a deposit to secure materials and scheduling. The remaining balance is due upon completion.

For insurance claims, payment schedules align with how your carrier releases funds.

Everything is clearly outlined before work begins.
We can provide general ranges, but we avoid giving exact numbers without inspecting the roof. Every home is different, and measurements matter.

We believe in accuracy over guesswork.
We are local. We are accountable. And we are here long after the storm passes.

Storm-driven companies often underbid projects to win volume quickly, then move on. We focus on long-term relationships, manufacturer certifications, full documentation, and warranty-backed installs.
